What To Look For When Finding a Wedding Photographer

Undoubtably, wedding photography tops many people’s list of most important parts of their wedding day. With all time, money, and effort that goes into your wedding planning, photos are the only thing that remains after the cake has been cut and eaten. If you have been searching for your wedding photographer, you already know that all the choices you have out there can be truly overwhelming. Just searching for one on google will bring literally hundreds of local photographers. So the question is how do you know which one is the right photographer for you?

First, you should check and see how long that person has been in business. You may be tempted to go with your friend with a DSLR kit or someone who just began offering their services. This is often the biggest mistake many couples make during their wedding planning process. Your wedding day happens only once and it is not something that you want to gamble with. As with any field of work, someone who has been in wedding photography business for more than 3 years will have more experience than someone who have never photographed a wedding professionally.

Second, you need to look for consistency. Ask to see at a complete set of wedding photos from a same wedding. Often, unexperienced photographers will only post a few photos from a wedding to their website. What if those one or two are the only photos that came out decently out of more than a thousand photos they have taken? If they are unwilling, they may be hiding something. For us, we make it really easy for potential clients to see our complete set of photos from real boston area weddings  to give them a good idea of our consistent style and quality even before we meet in person.

Third, check and see if they have backups and insurance. Your wedding photographer should have bare minimum of at least 2 for each of the following – camera bodies, lenses, flashes, memory cards, and batteries. Camera gears are not indestructible and things can go wrong at the most inconvenient time. Backups are a must, not an option. Also, many wedding venues will ask and see if your photographer has a liability insurance. If your photographer don’t have one and you found this out on your wedding day… you will end up with no good photos from your wedding. Again, someone who have been in the business for a while will have all their bases covered. At Aiden Rhaa Photography  we take precautions and have at least 4 backups of every gear we own. Your wedding day is precious and it should be treated with respect.

When it comes to wedding photography, you do get what you pay for in the end. You can pay less and save upfront, but they will always be cheap lousy wedding photos. You can invest in your memories, and you will forever remember your wedding day as you experienced in the most beautiful way possible.
